ICOUL, the International Congress on Urban Landscape, is an open and participatory international forum dedicated to the dissemination of strategies and instruments for managing the uses of the urban landscape for good local governance.
Without forgetting the traditional urban and heritage values that characterise the urban landscape, ICOUL also deals with cross-cutting aspects that are essential for improving the quality of urban life: culture, accessibility, heritage protection, sustainability, public health, rational use of land, the environment, new technologies, and city branding.
In contrast to the traditional option of creating more and more city, the new paradigm of sustainable urban development represented by the management of the urban landscape aims to transform the city.
In its 4th edition, ICOUL San José 2025 will focus on urban revitalization as a mechanism for transformation.
